Youth Cricket U17 2011 June 5 2011 Bradenham Bears v Fakenham Lancastrians The sight of coloured clothing on Bradenham Green heralded the start of this year's Junior Carter Cup and what looked like a real tough start for the Bears in game one of the group stage. The home side's cause was helped by the fact that Fakenham could only field 9 players. Batting 1st the visitors opening pair of Will Dunger and J Seed were rsetricted in the early stages by some controlled bowling by William Dewing and Lewis Bates. Dunger having scored 100 the previous day smashed a couple of big 6s before being caught trying to repeat these heroics. 13 year old Lloyd Marshall looks a really good prospect as he played some excellent shots in what always looked an inadequate total of 139. Will Dewing returning excellent figures of 5.4 overs, 2 for 7. Bradenham paced their reply and when Lewis Bates joined the impressive Lewis Denmark the result looked inevitable as the home side coasted to victory with Denmark unbeaten on 80. Well done to the U17s who managed to get to the final of the Junior Carter Cup. Unfortunately they were beaten by Horsford U17s. Bradenham batted first and set a total of 134 for 10, Horsford managed to get the runs with about 5 overs left, having lost 7 wickets.
