About Us - Our History

Bradenham plays its cricket on a picturesque village green in the heart of rural Norfolk. It is a club that has family and tradition at its heart.

It is unclear when Bradenham CC was first established but we know it was well before our first held records of 1944. From committee members listed in 1945 we can see that two and three generations down the line members of the same families are still representing the club. The latest examples of these being Robert Thurley and William Dewing.

The club has been playing regular Saturday league cricket for well over 25 years, fielding two sides and now playing Sunday league and midweek cricket as well. In the past three seasons, whilst we have consolidated the position of the 1st team in the Alliance as we try to bring youngsters through, the A team has been promoted twice in the Norfolk League. We have won trophies in midweek 20/20 cricket and the youthful Sunday side proves to be a great development ground for more promising youngsters - some playing from the age of 12.

Over the past seven years the club has worked very hard to develop its Youth section and it has reaped many rewards. We have won county trophies at Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15 levels. With a number of these youngsters representing the county at various age groups our ground has been regularly used for representative fixtures. We are certainly putting ourselves on the map.

The club is always striving to achieve as much as it can and its biggest non playing ambition is to raise enough money to replace the traditional wooden pavilion with a modern, more cost effective building that can enhance not only the cricket club but also the whole community.

We will not, however, let this get in the way of providing cricket for the enjoyment of as many people as possible
